How much does a restaurant POS system cost?
How much a restaurant POS system costs: the monthly fee, card fees, hardware and add-ons, with a worked example for a restaurant selling €20 000 a month.

Contents
How much a restaurant POS system costs depends on what you count. The monthly fee in an offer is only one part. Restaurant POS pricing is made up of the software, card fees, hardware and the features you buy separately when your POS doesn't include them.
At the end, we work out what it all costs for a restaurant with €20 000 in monthly sales.
The monthly software fee
Many POS systems charge a monthly fee. It can be per location, per register or per user, and some systems also take a commission on sales.
So compare prices at the same sales volume. A fixed fee stays the same, while a commission grows with your sales. Also ask whether the price goes up when you add a register, a location or a staff member.
Card fees
Card fees go to the payment provider, which can be a separate company or the POS company itself. The fee can be a percentage of each payment, a fixed amount per payment or both, sometimes on top of a monthly fee, and it can depend on the type of card.
For example, SumUp's published rate without a monthly fee is 1.49% of each card payment taken in person. With its Payments Plus subscription, it is €19 a month and 0.79% of payments made with regular cards. Payments made with international, business or premium cards or American Express are still charged 1.49%.
At the Fiest till, card payments go through SumUp or Viva, on a card terminal or an Android phone, and the payment provider bills its fees separately. Fiest's commission does not include card fees.
Hardware
A POS system needs a device such as a tablet, phone or computer, and often a printer. Card payments need a card terminal or a phone that takes contactless payments. A kitchen display is a device of its own. Ask whether you can use devices you already have, or whether you have to buy or rent them from the vendor.
Fiest runs in a browser on supported tablets, phones and computers. You can begin with compatible devices you already have, or we can provide a hardware package with payment terminals, printers and kitchen displays. Hardware is quoted separately. See card terminals and POS hardware.
Add-ons your POS may not include
Many restaurants need a kitchen display, online ordering, table reservations or a loyalty program on top of the till. If your POS doesn't include them, you buy them as separate services, each with its own price. Some POS systems include several of these, so check which ones are in the price you are offered.
The table shows example prices for separate services, checked on each service's own price page on 31 October 2026. They are software prices with monthly billing for one location. Hardware costs extra.
| Feature | As a separate service, for example | In Fiest |
|---|---|---|
| Kitchen display | Fresh KDS Essentials: $20 a month per screen, about €18 | In the standard price |
| Online ordering | GonnaOrder: €59 a month with one sales channel | In the standard price |
| Table QR ordering | GonnaOrder: €30 a month for each extra sales channel | In the standard price |
| Table reservations | Resos Basic: €45 a month, 350 bookings a month | No separate license, switched on when you ask |
| Loyalty program | Stamp Me Lite: €29 a month | No separate license, switched on when you ask |
| Self-service kiosk | GonnaOrder: each kiosk device is a sales channel of its own | No separate license, switched on when you ask |
In Fiest, these features run in the same system as the till, so you don't need separate services for them. Fiest is also not priced per user, so every staff account and team role comes with it.
Setup and contract
Besides the monthly price, ask about one-time costs: do setup, menu import or staff training cost extra? Check the contract period and notice period, and make sure you can take your sales data and menu with you if you switch systems.
At Fiest, your offer and the terms of service show the price and contract terms before you start.
What about a free POS?
Free POS software can suit a small seller. The total still isn't zero: card fees and hardware cost money either way, and some features may cost extra. So compare the total cost at the same sales volume, not just the software price.
Example: a restaurant with €20 000 in monthly sales
The restaurant sells €20 000 a month. Besides the till, it uses a kitchen display, online ordering, table QR ordering and reservations. Card fees assume all sales are paid at the till with regular cards.
| Cost | Separate services | Fiest |
|---|---|---|
| POS software | The system's own price | €49 + €39 = €88 + VAT |
| Kitchen display, online and QR ordering | About €107 | In the standard price |
| Reservations | €45 | No separate license, switched on when you ask |
| Card fees, SumUp Payments Plus | €177 | €177 |
As separate services, the add-ons come to about €152 a month at the example prices: GonnaOrder with two sales channels €89, Resos Basic €45 and Fresh KDS Essentials about €18. The POS system's own price comes on top.
Fiest's standard price at this sales level is €49 + €39 = €88 a month + VAT. The kitchen display and online and QR ordering are part of it, and reservations need no separate license.
Card fees come on top either way. With SumUp Payments Plus they are €177 a month, and €298 without the subscription. In this example card fees cost more than Fiest's standard price, so check them as carefully as the POS price.
What Fiest costs
The standard price is €49/month per location + 0.39% of sales above €10 000 a month. The first €10 000 of sales each month carries no commission, counted per location and calendar month with till and online sales together. Above that, the same rate applies at the till and to online orders. For example, €8 000 in monthly sales costs €49, and €20 000 costs €88. Prices exclude VAT, and card payment processing is billed separately by your payment provider.
The standard price covers the core platform: POS, menus, kitchen screens, live orders, direct online and table QR ordering, and reporting. The self-service kiosk, loyalty program, reservations and task lists need no separate license, and Fiest switches them on when you ask. Hardware, a custom restaurant website, dedicated onboarding and custom integrations are priced separately.
For larger operations we can price the whole operation based on volume, locations, hardware and rollout. Work out your own monthly price on Fiest's pricing page.
